It would seem that a freelancer – with its unique type of employment – should have no problem with motivation. A person works for himself, does it as much as he wants and as much as he likes.

In this context, the motivation of a freelancer depends solely on his needs and the way he wants to live. You need money – go to work, do not – do not go. If the level of needs is high, there are more reasons. And if, say, the need to hang out and spend time with friends is higher, then the motivation to work will be less.

If you want both a good lifestyle outside work and enough free time, then there is a motive to learn to do something faster and more effectively.

I will highlight two main categories of reasons.

The first is that the employer does not give you any feedback – neither “thank you”, nor “great”, nor anything else. It can be demotivated when you give a job without adequate feedback.

It is worth remembering here that the customer pays with money and does not have to take care of the harmony of the hired contractor. Freelancer must understand that he must have developed adequate self-esteem and the ability to self-evaluate his work.

If a specialist needs a good team and support, he should go to recruitment. The freelance is contraindicated to an extrovert who likes to talk and “moves”. A freelancer doesn’t need a wonderful team or a boss to applaud him.

The second category of reasons is when the employer does not care much about the hired specialist. For example, it delays payments and behaves dishonestly. The freelancer has much less leverage on the employer, especially when the contract is incorrectly executed.

The experience of interaction with an unscrupulous employer reduces motivation, labor enthusiasm, and healthy increases anxiety. As a result, you do not want to fulfill orders well and qualitatively. And in general, I do not want to do anything.

Above are some of the biggest problems among freelancers. It is important to be able to find strength and motivation and to overcome difficulties. There are no universal solutions to avoid all these problems. In my opinion, you need to be able to rest well, do what you love and find time for really important things. When emotions have subsided, then there will be a solution to the problem. Never hurry!
